Temple activities:
The movement conducts a number of activities to increase spiritual awareness in the present society, not to mention the daily worship, sankirtan, lectures and annual festivals.
1) Cultural Education:
Srimad-Bhagavata purana says that one should be trained to practice devotional activities from the very childhood. The CES (Culture and Education Services) wing of the movement seeks to revive Vedic values and principles among the youngsters. Some of the major activities carried out under this initiative are:
- Krishna Heritage Fest – An inter-school competition conducted twice a year for students from class 1 to 10 to encourage their talents in various arts.
- Summer Vacation Camp – The camp organized for a period of three weeks provides a platform to train the participants in different art forms. It also educates them in different spiritual activities and moral values.
- Krishna Contest – School children from class 5 to 8 are provided with small books on Vedic stories. They study these books and appear for a written test on the same.
2) Krishna Ashraya:
By participating in the Krishna Ashraya program, one can get proper guidance on implementing the principles of Bhagavad-gita in one’s life. Thus one will be able to overcome all the material miseries and lead a happy life based on those teachings. This program is offered in different forms such as House Satsang program (consisting of lecture, Harinama japa, kirtan and prasadam), free personal counselling, Sunday Satsang program and pilgrimage tours.
3) FOLK:
Started in 2008, Friends Of Lord Krishna (FOLK) program conducts various sessions on the treasure house of Vedic knowledge to the youth and guides them to become ideal citizens of tomorrow. The sessions also deal with the problems experienced by the younger generation and trains them in managing them efficiently.
Sri Radha Madhav Gaushala
Hare Krishna Mandir maintains a gaushala (cowshed) wherein eight well-built cows of native Gir breed are cared for along with their calves. The gaushala products are used in the service of Their Lordships.
